Youth Programs at TVUUC

Middle School (6th-8th Grades) & High School (9th-12th Grades)

TVUUC has many opportunities for middle and high school youth to connect with one another, Unitarian Universalism, and the TVUUC community!

Youth who attend on Sunday mornings are welcome in any of our Choose Your Own Adventure Religious Exploration spaces, which are open to K-12th grades, or may take part in our youth-only RE space that is open to 6th-12th graders: the Youth Focus program, which meets in the Elandria Williams Room.  In this special space just for older youth, we build community together as we offer a deeper dive into the spiritual theme for the day with activities, games, crafts and discussion that is designed to engage middle and high school youths’ creativity, passion for making sense of the world and seeking their own place within it, and sense of playfulness and humor.  All youth are invited to join us for joyful meaning making together!  Youth and others of all ages are also always welcome to attend the full worship service in the sanctuary on Sunday mornings.

We also offer non-Sunday morning programming for youth to come together with peers for connection, fun and service. These offerings include a Middle School Youth Group as well as a High School Youth Group.

The Middle School Youth Group for 6th - 8th grades meets once per month at TVUUC on Sunday afternoons, generally on 1st Sundays following the potluck lunch, for community-building activities such as scavenger hunts, art projects, escape room challenges, and holiday parties, as well as once per month for a social outing for connection and fun with peers such as bowling, ice skating, rock climbing, etc. These outings vary in time/day of the week; all events will be scheduled and publicized.

The High School Youth Group for 9th-12th grades gathers once a month at TVUUC, generally on a Saturday evening from 6-9pm, for bonding, play, and leadership development, as well as for additional planned outings, programs, or special events. Activities are determined by participating youth. We also offer quarterly youth Dungeons & Dragon games. D&D recommends players be 13 or older due to fantasy violence and 2 hour + length of game play.
