Caregiving Programs

  • Caring Table

Purpose:  The Caring Table exists to nurture compassion, connection, and community within our congregation and beyond. Through handwritten cards sent during times of illness, loss, celebration, transition, and personal accomplishment, we offer reminders that each person is valued and held in our collective care. Rooted in Unitarian Universalist principles of empathy, mutual support, and the interconnectedness of all people, the Caring Table seeks to strengthen relationships, honor milestones, and ensure that no one walks their journey alone.

  • Caregivers and Grief Support Group

Purpose:  The Caregiver and Grief Support Group provides a compassionate, non‑judgmental space where individuals navigating caregiving responsibilities or experiences of loss can find understanding, companionship, and emotional support. Grounded in Unitarian Universalist values—including the inherent worth and dignity of every person, the encouragement of one another in spiritual growth, and the recognition of our deep interconnectedness—we gather to share stories, strengthen resilience, and honor each person’s unique journey.  Through listening, reflection, and mutual care, we strive to cultivate a community where no one faces hardship alone and where healing is nurtured through presence, empathy, and collective compassion.

  • Helping Team

Purpose:  The Helping Team supports members of our community by offering practical assistance and compassionate presence during times of need—such as providing rides, meals, errands, visits, light household help, or minor repairs. Rooted in our UU commitment to interconnectedness and service, we strive to ensure that no one faces difficulty alone. By responding with respect, discretion, and kindness, we strengthen our bonds of community and help create a congregation where care is shared, received, and celebrated.

  • Spiritual Care Team

Purpose:  The Spiritual Care Team supports the well‑being of our community by offering a compassionate, confidential presence to those experiencing crisis, illness, grief, or life transitions of any kind. Team members are trained volunteers who, upon request, accompany individuals through listening, presence, and gentle companionship—either in person or by phone. Support may take the form of a single meeting or continue over time, depending on the needs and wishes of the individual.  Rooted in our UU commitments to compassion, interconnectedness, and the inherent worth and dignity of every person, the Spiritual Care Team strives to ensure that no one navigates life’s challenges alone. Serving two‑year terms as part of the congregation’s pastoral care ministry, members help cultivate a community where care is offered with respect, grounding, and open-hearted presence.
